Even the cobblestones dance in the street.

The grandparents start the dance of the quarrel*,

Bube, zayde gayn in dem broygez tants,

באָבע זײדע גײן אין דעם ברוגז טאַנץ,

The bride and groom clap their hands.

Khusen kale plyesken mit di hent.

חתן כלה פליעסקען מיט די הענט.

And when Yosele picks up his violin again,

Even the shadows dance on the walls.
