| Go, go to the desert, | Lékh, lékh la-midbar, |
לֵךְ, לֵךְ לַמִּדְבָּר, | |||||
| The roads will lead [you], | Ha-drakhim yovilu, |
הַדְּרָכִים יוֹבִילוּ, | |||||
| Before the night descends, | Layil tèrèm ba, |
לַֽיִל טֶֽרֶם בָּא, | |||||
| Go, my brother, to the desert. | Lékh, ahi, ’èl ha-midbar. |
לֵךְ, אָחִי, אֶל הַמִּדְבָּר. | |||||
| Again we will return, | Shuv, shuv nahazor, |
שׁוּב, שׁוּב נַחֲזֹר, | |||||
| The rocks will cheer, | Ha-tsukim yari‘u, |
הַצּוּקִים יָרִיעוּ, | |||||
| A large sun of light | Shèmèsh gdola shèl ’or |
שֶֽׁמֶשׁ גְּדוֹלָה שֶׁל אוֹר | |||||
| Will shine on us. | ‘Od tizrah ‘aléynu. |
עוֹד תִּזְרַח עָלֵינוּ. | |||||
| To the desert, | La-midbar, |
לַמִּדְבָּר, | |||||
| Land without water, | ’Èrèts lo mayim, |
אֶֽרֶץ לֹא מַֽיִם, | |||||
| Oh, you [are] my land, | Ho ’at ’admati, |
הוֹ, אַתְּ אַדְמָתִי, | |||||
| We have returned to you! | Shavnu ’èlayikh! |
שַׁבְנוּ אֵלַֽיִךְ! | |||||
| Land of salt, | ’Èrèts meluha, |
אֶֽרֶץ מְלוּחָה, | |||||
| Of wind and wrath, | Ruah va-za‘am, |
רוּחַ וָזַֽעַם, | |||||
| The fighters returned | Ha-lohamim hazru, |
הַלּוֹחֲמִים חָזְרוּ, | |||||
| Oh, like a storm. | Ho, ka-sa‘ar. |
הוֹ, כַּסַּֽעַר. | |||||
