Today, my sister, this is our fight,  Ha-yom ʼaẖot hi milẖamténu, 
הַיּוֹם אָחוֹת הִיא מִלְחַמְתֵּֽנוּ,
That’s why I’m far away from here.  Lakhen raẖoq ani mikan. 
לָכֵן רָחוֹק אֲנִי מִכָּאן.
Let's celebrate our meeting  Taẖogi na ʼèt pgishaténu 
תָּחֹגִּי נָא אֶת פְּגִישָׁתֵֽנוּ
In our little kitchen.  Be-mitbaẖénu ha-qatan. 
בְּמִטְבָּחֵנוּ הַקָּטָן.
On the place I chose,  ‛Al mekomi shè-beẖartihu, 
עַל מְקוֹמִי שֶׁבְּחַרְתִּיהוּ,
Put a glass full of wine  Tasimi yayin melo kosit. 
תָּשִׂימִי יַיִן מְלוֹא כּוֹסִית.
You’ll see me as if I were there  Tirʼi ke-ʼilu zè ʼani hu 
תִּרְאִי כְּאִלּוּ זֶה אֲנִי הוּא
Sitting with you, just like always.  Yoshév ʼitakh kemo tamid. 
יוֹשֵׁב אִתָּךְ כְּמוֹ תָּמִיד.
 
Believe me, a day will come.  Haʼamini yom yavo. 
הַאֲמִינִי יוֹם יָבוֹא.
Everything will be okay, I promise you.  Tov yihyè mavtiaẖ lakh. 
טוֹב יִהְיֶה מַבְטִֽיחַ לָךְ.
To hug you I will come  Le-ẖabék ʼotakh ʼavo 
לְחַבֵּק אוֹתָךְ אָבוֹא
And I’ll tell you everything.  Ve-ha-kol ʼasiaẖ lakh. 
וְהַכֹּל אָשִֽׂיחַ לָךְ.
 
Yesterday, we were in action  ʼÈtmol la-pe‛ula yatsanu 
אֶתְמוֹל לַפְּעֻלָּה יָצָֽאנוּ
Until nightfall.  ‛Ad le-ʼashmorèt rishona. 
עַד לְאַשְׁמֹרֶת רִאשׁוֹנָה.
Today, we are calm and quiet  Ha-yom shaqatnu ve-nirganu 
הַיּוֹם שָׁקַטְנוּ וְנִרְגַּֽעְנוּ
And from silver the moon shines.  U-makhsifa ko ha-levana. 
וּמַכְסִיפָה כֹּה הַלְּבָנָה.
I remembered my meeting with you  ʼÈt pgishati ʼitakh zakharti 
אֶת פְּגִישָׁתִי אִתָּךְ זָכַֽרְתִּי
And your green robe.  Ve-simlatékh ha-yeruka. 
וְשִׂמְלָתֵךְ הַיְּרֻקָּה.
This night is good for me, that’s what I say,  Ha-layla tov li, ko ʼamarti, 
הַלַּיְלָה טוֹב לִי, כֹּה אָמַֽרְתִּי,
Because you are near, even from afar.  Ki ʼat qerova mérẖoqa. 
כִּי אַתְּ קְרוֹבָה מֵרְחוֹקָה.
 
Believe me, a day will come...  Haʼamini yom yavo... 
הַאֲמִינִי יוֹם יָבוֹא...
 
When machine guns spit fire  Khshè noveẖim piyot ha-stènim 
כְּשֶׁנּוֹבְחִים פִּיּוֹת הַסְּטֶנִים
And mortars rumble,  Ha-margemot nèʼènaẖot,, 
הַמַּרְגֵּמוֹת נֶאֱנָחוֹת,
Then my thoughts will carry me  ʼAz maẖshavti ta‛aviréni 
אָז מַחְשַׁבְתִּי תַּעֲבִירֵנִי
To you, my friend, my sister.  ʼÉlayikh, re‛a ve-ʼaẖot. 
אֵלַיִךְ, רֵעָה וְאָחוֹת.
And then I’ll know that the fight has meaning,  Ve-ʼaz ʼéda – la-krav yésh ta‛am, 
וְאָז אֵדַע – לַקְּרָב יֵשׁ טַֽעַם,
Even if the price is very high,  ʼAf ki ha-meẖir yaqar meʼod, 
אַף כִּי הַמְּחִיר יָקָר מְאֹד,
So that one day, whenever it may be,  Kedé shè-yom yavo, ʼé pa‛am, 
כְּדֵי שֶׁיּוֹם יָבוֹא, אֵי פַּֽעַם,
We can breathe here and live!  Nukhal li-nshom po ve-liẖyot! 
נוּכַל לִנְשֹׁם פֹּה וְלִחְיוֹת!
 
Believe me, the day will come...  Haʼamini yom yavo... 
הַאֲמִינִי יוֹם יָבוֹא...
 
And if sadness fills your heart,  Ve-ʼim tavo ba-lév ʼatsèvèt, 
וְאִם תָּבוֹא בַּלֵּב עַצֶּֽבֶת –
Lift up your head, strengthen your heart.  Roshékh ziqfi, ẖazki ha-lév. 
רֹאשֵׁךְ זִקְפִי, חַזְּקִי הַלֵּב.
For toward you, my love,  Ki ʼélayikh, ha-ʼohèvèt, 
כִּי אֵלַיִךְ, הָאוֹהֶֽבֶת,
The one who loves you will look one day…  Yéhom ẖazè ʼashèr ʼohév... 
יֵהוֹם חָזֶה אֲשֶׁר אוֹהֵב...
And if your sleep sometimes wanders,  Ve-ʼim shnatékh ‛itim nodèdèt, 
וְאִם שְׁנָתֵךְ עִתִּים נוֹדֶֽדֶת,
Whisper this little song  Pazmi shiri zè ha-qatan 
פַּזְּמִי שִׁירִי זֶה הַקָּטָן
And you will hear a hymn to the homeland  Ve-tishme‛i mizmor-molèdèt 
וְתִשְׁמְעִי מִזְמוֹר-מוֹלֶֽדֶת
As I cross the threshold...  Be-tsa‛adi ‛al ha-miftan...
